Why slurry destroys an ordinary seal
- Abrasion is relentless — grit and solids chew up soft faces in weeks; silicon carbide on silicon carbide is the only pairing that holds.
- Gland water vs mechanical seal — a mechanical seal cuts the water cost and dilution that packing wastes, but it has to be specified for the duty.
- The flush plan is half the job — a clean barrier or quench (Plan 32/54) keeps grit off the faces.
- Big shafts and high pressure need a heavy-duty cartridge, not a light-duty seal stretched past its limit.

Silicon-carbide against silicon-carbide. Nothing softer lasts in abrasive solids — ceramic and carbon wear out in weeks where SiC/SiC runs for months.
Should I switch from gland packing to a mechanical seal?
Often yes — a mechanical seal cuts the gland-water cost, dilution and housekeeping that packing wastes. It has to be specified for the duty, with the right flush plan.
Can you match Warman seals?
Yes — we build heavy-duty cartridge and component seals to Warman, Metso and KSB slurry-pump dimensions, or machine to a sample for obsolete pumps.
