Single cartridge seals
Balanced single cartridges in SiC, carbon or tungsten-carbide faces for clean and lightly contaminated duty on water, utility and general process pumps.
Pre-assembled, pre-set single and double cartridge seals to API 682 — supplied to spec so they drop in without field measurement.
At a glance
We are the manufacturer, not a reseller — so we set and test every cartridge before it ships, build it in-house, and supply it at quantities that work for a distributor, an OEM or a maintenance department. Here is how we approach cartridge sealing.
Selection
A component seal has to be measured and set on the shaft by hand; a cartridge arrives pre-set, so the most common installation error simply cannot happen.
The whole unit slides on as one assembly. A millwright swaps it in minutes instead of lapping and setting faces in the field.
Every cartridge of a given part number is identical, so reliability does not depend on who happened to install it.
Converting a packed pump or an old component seal to a cartridge is the single easiest reliability win on most stuffing boxes.

Range
Single and double cartridge units, OEM-compatible or fully custom — at the quantities your operation actually orders.
Balanced single cartridges in SiC, carbon or tungsten-carbide faces for clean and lightly contaminated duty on water, utility and general process pumps.
Pressurized and unpressurized double cartridge seals with barrier or buffer fluid for hazardous, toxic or volatile service.
Drop-in equivalents to common cartridge designs, or fully custom units machined from a drawing or a sample for obsolete and non-standard pumps.
Selection guide
Face pair, arrangement and flush plan are set by the service — not by what a catalogue stocks. The table is a starting point; send us the duty and we confirm it.
| Service | Face pair | Arrangement | Typical flush |
|---|---|---|---|
| Clean water / utilities | Carbon / SiC | Single cartridge | Plan 11 |
| General chemical | SiC / SiC | Single, well-flushed | Plan 11 / 21 |
| Hazardous / toxic | SiC / SiC | Double cartridge + barrier | Plan 53A/B |
| Abrasive slurry | SiC / SiC | Double cartridge | Plan 32 / 54 |
A starting point only. Hazardous or toxic media should run a double cartridge with a barrier fluid — see our API flush plan guide.

FAQ
Cartridges win wherever installation skill varies or downtime is expensive — they remove the setting-height error entirely. Component seals can still make sense for very small pumps or tight cost targets. The full trade-off is in our component vs cartridge comparison.
We build to your shaft diameter and stuffing-box dimensions, and to common ANSI B73.1 and ISO envelopes. Send the seal drawing, the seal’s model or part number, or a sample of the old seal, and we confirm the fit before quoting.
Single cartridges suit clean and lightly contaminated duty. Hazardous, toxic, volatile or abrasive media should run a double cartridge with a barrier or buffer fluid so the process never sees atmosphere.
Yes. We supply API 682 Type A, B and C cartridge seals to the standard’s arrangement and piping-plan requirements, sized to your pump and service.
OEM-compatible, custom-machined and private-label cartridge seals built in-house to your spec, at low minimums. Send the seal drawing, the seal model or a sample and we’ll quote.
